Saturday, June 10th was more than a day. It was a testament to honor, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of community during our 12th Annual 1st Lt. Derek Hines Flag Day 5K. With over 1,300 participants lacing their running shoes on-site and an additional 55 joining us virtually from across the nation, the atmosphere buzzed with a commitment that was as visible as it was inspiring. Undeterred by the whims of the weather, our resilient runners answered the celebratory boom of the starting canon with determination in their strides. Every footfall echoed the story of Derek Hines, a celebration of our flag, and a tribute to the man whose memory continues to drive this remarkable cause.
We were incredibly honored to host six members of the current 173rd Airborne Brigade, who were flown out especially for the event. Their presence added a touch of undeniable grit and authenticity to our race, their determination reflecting the very spirit of 1st Lt. Derek Hines himself.
As we reflect on the success of our 12th Annual Flag Day 5K, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our invaluable sponsors, donors, and participants. Your ongoing support has enabled us to uphold this cherished tradition year after year. This event is a true testament to the power of our community coming together, and it’s all thanks to your generous backing. We look forward to continuing this journey with all of you, making strides in honor of our heroes, one 5K at a time.
